The wai kru ceremony is a Thai ritual in which students respect teachers to convey their appreciation and strengthen the student-teacher connection. In most schools in Thailand, the ceremony is observed during June or July and on a Thursday. The ritual involves students showing esteem and humbleness toward their teachers. Also, two words are used for the English word ‘teacher’ in Thailand.

They are kru and aa-jaan in Thai.
