Answers for Explorers
Everything you need to know about your teaching journey with the KET family.
Is a university degree mandatory for paid teaching jobs? 🎓
Yes. For paid teaching jobs, a Bachelor's Degree in any field is a legal requirement set by the Ministry of Education to secure your Non-B Visa and Teacher's License. However, our Volunteer Residencies and Summer Internships are open to those without degrees.
Does KET handle the Non-B Visa and Work Permit process? 🛂
Absolutely. Once you are accepted into the KET family, we coordinate the entire Non-B Visa legalization process. We manage all Labor Department filings for your E-Work Permit and provide direct guidance for your consulate appointment.
What kind of housing is provided at the school placement? 🏠
We pre-vet and secure private AC housing near your school before you arrive in your province. Most teacher accommodations include ensuite bathrooms and are located in safe, local communities with easy access to markets and amenities.
How does the "No-Interview" placement model work? 🤝
Our 500+ partner schools trust our Teacher Profile vetting. Because we are a family-run agency with a 90-year Sukhothai heritage, school directors rely on our recommendation. Once your profile and intro video are approved by KET, your placement is guaranteed.
Is a Criminal Record Check required for 2026? 🛡️
Yes. A clean Criminal Record Check (Background Check) from your home country is mandatory for all English teachers in Thailand. This ensures a safe learning environment for students and is required by the Teacher's Council of Thailand.
What happens during the Sukhothai orientation week? 🇹🇭
Your onboarding includes a full week of cultural immersion, Thai language basics, and classroom management training. We also handle your SIM card setup and Thai bank account opening during this time.
What is the average teacher salary and cost of living? 💰
Most teachers in Northern Thailand provinces like Phitsanulok or Sukhothai earn a competitive salary (33,000–35,000 THB) that allows for monthly savings of $450–$600 USD, thanks to the very low local cost of living.
Am I covered by health or accident insurance? 🩺
Yes. KET provides Accident Insurance for the entire duration of your contract. We also assist with Social Security registration once your E-Work Permit is active.
Do you accept non-native English speakers (NNES)? 🌍
Yes. We have a dedicated support path for non-native speakers with high proficiency and a degree. We ensure your Teacher Profile highlights your unique pedagogical strengths to our partner schools.
Is there an age limit for teaching in Thailand? 🎂
We place teachers aged 21 to 60+. Thai schools highly value the maturity of educators in their 40s and 50s. As long as you meet the visa eligibility requirements, there is a place for you.
Can I choose my teaching location in Thailand? 📍
Yes. During the application process, you can list your preferred provinces. 98% of our teachers are placed in one of their top choices within our network of Central and Northern Thailand schools.
What support do I get after I start teaching? 📞
You have 24/7 access to Matthew John and our local support team. Whether it's help with curriculum planning, a medical emergency, or cultural nuances at school, we are only a phone call away.
