Is a university degree mandatory for paid teaching jobs?
Yes. For paid teaching jobs, a Bachelor degree in any field is a legal requirement set by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labour to secure your Non-B visa and teacher license waiver. Our skills-based volunteer residency is open to participants aged 18+ without a degree.
Who is my legal employer and does KET handle the visa process?
Your hiring partner school is your legal employer on contract. KET coordinates the paperwork, school sponsorship letters, Non-B visa documentation, and Section 60 digital work permit alongside provincial labour offices.
How does accommodation work for teachers?
The teacher pays rent. KET helps you find and inspect a private, air-conditioned studio apartment near your school before arrival. Rent in Northern provinces typically ranges from 3,000 to 8,000 THB per month.
What happens during the Sukhothai orientation week?
First-time teachers attend our 5-night arrival orientation in Sukhothai (Saturday Bangkok Mo Chit 2 pickup to Thursday morning checkout). The 400 USD fee (settled on Sunday in cash as 13,000 THB) covers private AC hotel lodging, training meals, a 5G SIM card, and a personal move-in escort to your school town. What is the average teacher salary and cost of living in the North?
Standard public and Northern partner schools pay 30,000 to 36,000 THB net monthly. Low living costs in Northern provinces (12,000 to 16,000 THB total monthly outlay) allow teachers to save $500 to $600+ USD every month.
Can non-native English speakers apply?
Yes. Non-native speakers holding a Bachelor degree and demonstrating verified C1+ English proficiency (IELTS 6.5+ or TOEIC 860+) are eligible for paid placement and Non-B visa support.
How does the school matching process work?
You submit your application at /apply-now and record a 45 to 60 second intro video following our guide at /intro-video. Our team builds your professional profile and presents it to partner schools. When a school makes an offer, you review and sign your written contract directly.
What support does KET provide once I start teaching?
KET coordinators remain in contact throughout your contract to help with 90-day TM.47 reporting, annual visa extensions, work permit renewals, and classroom mentorship whenever questions arise.
