Free Day18 May 2025 — passed

This is a guest piece from Twinkl Thailand, kept on the original URL. The 24-hour Free Day on 18 May 2025 has finished. The activity ideas still work. Download current packs from Twinkl, not from a closed countdown.

Use one or two on the first morning. Do not run all ten. Flag assembly already eats the start of the day.

01

Icebreakers

Find Someone Who, or two truths and a lie. Names first. Keep it short so the quiet students still get a turn.

02

Writing prompts

One picture, three sentences. Morning writing before the heat. Collect notebooks, do not grade every line on day one.

03

Math puzzles

Printable puzzles at two levels. Pair a confident student with a stuck one. Answers on your desk, not on the board yet.

04

STEM challenge

One constraint: paper, tape, a cup. Groups of four. Stop when the noise covers the next room.

05

Art and craft

Name plates or a class banner. Twinkl templates if you do not want to draw the outline yourself.

06

Calm start

Two quiet minutes after assembly. Breathing, then names. Useful on a Monday after a long break.

07

Role play

Shop, clinic, or lost-and-found. Scripts for the shy class. Improvisation only if they already know each other.

08

Simple science

One experiment you have tested. Water, paper, or a balloon. No open flame in a government classroom.

09

Reading circle

Same short text. Three questions. Students speak to a partner before they speak to the room.

10

Timeline

Five events on cards. Students order them. Works for history or for “my first week at this school”.

Free Day has passed
