Thailand Entry Requirements-July 2022

Last week (July 1st, 2022), the Government of Thailand downgraded the Covid-19 situation in the country from a pandemic to an endemic.

This resulted in the abolition of the last two remaining provisions for travel—the Thailand Pass, the online system to upload documents needed for an inbound trip to Thailand, and the $10,000 health/COVID insurance requirement.

This means traveling to Thailand is returning to some sense of normality; however, rules still need to be followed.

Vaccination Status in Thailand

Currently, under the newly announced rules:

  1. Inbound visitors to Thailand will still be mandated to show proof of complete vaccination (either paper or digital forms are permitted)

  2. ‘OR’ a negative result from an RT-PCR test or professional ATK within 72 hours of arrival.

  3. Unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated visitors without a negative test result within 72 hours of travel must follow the public health instructions and guidelines deemed appropriate by the Health Control Officer upon arrival. All expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the visitors.

  4. This means it could be an RT-PCR test or professional ATK, as the Health Control Officer at arrival selects it.

  5. Unaccompanied ‘under 18-year-olds’ must show at least one dose of an approved vaccine (those traveling with parents are exempt).

  6. While in Thailand, both vaccinated and unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated visitors are required to strictly follow the health and safety standards of the Government of Thailand.

  7. Visitors who are encountering COVID-like symptoms should get tested. The visitor must seek the appropriate medical treatment if a positive test result is discovered.
