Thailand Mask Mandate Lifted-Exceptions Persist

In Thailand, the mask mandate has been lifted

The most important question you may have right now as we’re going through this transitional course, heading back to some sense of normalcy, is presumably when and where you can unmask.

However, if you think you can free your face and leave your mask at home, you should read the subsequent “Government Rules” first:

I found this by reading and asking establishments about ‘masking up’ (or unmasking).

Firstly, The Ministry of Public Health suggests that you don’t have to wear a mask when you are alone, or if you drink, eat, or exercise outdoors, in an open-air environment, or even inside where you can keep a physical distance from another person.

However, a group is “requested” to keep their masks on. These are the 608 group’, ‘the infected’ or ‘people’ who were in contact with the ‘infected,’ and finally’ staff who provide services to people where close contact can’t be avoided.

The term’608’ is a category used by The Ministry of Public Health to place people in groups that are considered more susceptible to Covid-19 than usual (according to The Ministry of Public Health), such as the elderly, people with pre-existing medical conditions, and finally people who haven’t been vaccinated.

The Ministry of Public Health also recommends that even if you’re vaccinated, you should wear a mask when you’re in a crowded place, aboard a train, a plane, or in/on public transportation.

If you are at a public park or a beach, the ‘Ministry of Public Health said you don’t have to ‘mask up;’ however, you should keep a physical distance from other people.

Also, if you are at a concert, the department still “suggests” people choose to wear masks regardless of whether the show is indoors or outdoors.

This is because any concert will be a big gathering of people in close contact with each other.

However, ‘The Performers’ don’t have to wear masks while performing; however, staff should wear masks while working.

Also, you should be mindful that some venues ask for proof of vaccination before the show date and sometimes at the door of venues.

Also, for a crowd of more than 2,000 people, the organizer must still notify ‘The Ministry of Public Health Local District Office and follow any directions!

I have been asking if I need to put a mask on in many locations such as 7/11, shops, supermarkets, bus stations, etc.

I always get the answer: "It is up to me!"

There is a natural "personal choice” in certain situations, which in my opinion, is excellent and should continue to be encouraged.

Ultimately, if you aren't sure, ask!

However, always be polite and respectful, and be prepared by having a mask ready in case it needs to be put on!
